Yeah the gun is worth having especially for free. The sears and roebuck 300 isn't the best gun ever, but you can hunt with it and shoot sporting clays with it. The model 300 will do fine until you can get the $1000-$1700 gun. Heck you might end up liking the model 300 and end up not getting a new gun.
Browning BPS, 12 gauge. Remington 1100, 12 gauge Remington 1100, 20 gauge Stoeger 2000, 12 gauge Springfield 67f, 20 gauge Ithaca model 100, 20 gauge H&R single shot, 12 gauge H&R single shot,.410. I am one of maybe a few who is a Ted Williams 300 groupie. They are great shotguns! They were in fact much better in my opinion than the Winchester 1400 from which they are kin to. They had better wood, better balance, double beeded sights, vent ribs, and a vari-choke.
And everyone I have seen with the exception of a few were in excellent condition. There is no data or production dates available.
I own many and the differences are subtle the ones made between 1964 and 1968 had chrome triggers, and a thicker pistol grip, the serial numbers were under the reciever, the ones made from 1969 on had the letter Q in front of the serial numbers the earliest one with a Q serial number to date I have found is Q29832, another change is the pistol grip is much narrower, and the trigger is now matte black, another later change for the 300 is that the serial number went on the left side of the reciever the earliest number I have found is Q57599. Nba 2k12 iso download. The highest serial number I have seen is Q139463 probably near the end of the Ted Williams production run which ended in 1978. I have been trying to figure production dates by checking gun auctions and gathering barrel codes and serial numbers and original owner info on the 200 and 300 Ted Williams.
Thier does seem to be some barrel code date sequence but I have not yet been able to figure it out. But yes the 300 is one great little trouble free shotgun with loads of cheap spare parts if it should ever breakdown which I doubt. The only problem is that someone had cut off the buttstock to make it a youth gun. I'm trying to find a replacement stock for it. I'd also love to find a Ted Williams brown recoil pad for it as the original was hacked to fit the shorter stock. I'll probably just order a Pachmayr pad if I can find a new stock. This gun has only been shot a few times since I've owned it. It has a few rust spots on the choke and some small one on the underside of the barrel, so I'll probably spot-blue it.
The barrel is really clean inside. They are opening a new skeet range here(first one) and I have never shot skeet before, so I'm wondering if this shotgun would make a good beginners skeet gun? I have no idea about what may be appropriate or suitable. What does the VC and CR code stamped on the barrel by the trademark indicate? Where do you find the barrel number? There are 2 circles, one the barrel and on on top of teh receiver that have the letters SP inside. What is that?

I am assuming the serial number is on the left side of the reciever correct? The CR is the barrel code and the VC is on all barrels with the Vari Choke barrel. You just missed out I did see a complete Model 300 stock set complete with the recoil pad and pistol grip caps and forearm go for $45.00 including shipping on Ebay. I always check Ebay and gunbroker for Ted Williams or other parts. Ebay is almost always cheaper, I just recently purchased a model 300 barrel with vents and vari choke for $25.00.
And a Winchester Model 50 Forearm for $9.00 which is at least $30 cheaper than anyplace I have ever seen both on Ebay! Also if you get the original buttplate complete with recoil pad make sure you get the appropriate screwdriver and lubricate the screwdriver when unscrewing and rescrewing the recoil pad to the buttplate, if you do not use the right screwdriver and do not lubricate it you will damage the recoil pad, and you will need a long screwdriver for tightening the stock to the reciever. Thanks again for the serial number and barrel code someday I will figure out the production dates! There are 2 circles, one the barrel and on on top of teh receiver that have the letters SP inside. What is that? Someone on one of these boards stated (I cannot verify) that a national skeet record was set with a Ted Williams 200 or 300. As for the surface rust on your barrel use 0000 fine steel wool and a good gun oil to remove the rust.
Sears Ted Williams Shotgun
I would shoot skeet with a Model 300 they have good balance.
I posted the date code list for Sears / Ted Williams / JC Higgins guns somewhere in this thread. Your 2 letter code of 'JK' indicates an October 1965 Date of MFG. Sorry I have forgotten to check into this forum for years now.I have a Ted Williams 12 gauge Model 200 GA Serial number P1690XX and the stamp on the barrel is odd. It looks like a small 'U' and a N after it. Im thinking according to your numbers that this can only be an 'H' making it a UH stamping.
Azealia banks 1991 download mp3. Would this then be August 1969?
Thank you for your question. I know how hard it is to locate information for these older model weapons. The Ted Williams shotgun was manufactured for Sears Roebuck Company by Remington. The serial number is usually what is needed to locate information. Thank you for providing the one for this model. Unfortunately, Winchester lost a lot of records in a fire so exact information was not found. However, using the series number in the serial number provides a manual for an almost identical shotgun from Remington. You can view here. This should take care of any issues with the shotgun. Enjoy this great old gun and let us know if we can assist in future. Thank you for using Manage My Life.
Does anyone know if theres a database for the serial numbers for date of manufacture? My nephew just picked one up for $100 from a friend and i couldnt give any info on it no matter how far i dug into google. That poor gun spent years behind the seat of a truck and was never cleaned (while the guy had it). I stripped it down and he scrubbed it clean. I ironed out the wood and oiled it then soaked it in hot water and took 600 wet/ dry to it then oiled it. It came out to be a nice shotgun.
Action was smooth as silk. Any info would be appreciated. Ill post pics when he sends them.

I take it you have a Ted Williams 200 shotgun made by Winchester. Here is the manual for the Winchester 1200. Model1200oms.pdf Dad worked at Sears back in the day (40 years ago) and he used to bring home the hunting catalogs with all the guns you could order.
I spent hours looking at those catalogs and making lists of the guns I wanted to buy. I only ended up with a Ted Williams 22lr which I still have and my girls will have to decide what to do with it after I'm dead as it was my first gun. Sears/Ted Williams firearms are no frills, but they have a special place in my heart. Winchester intro'ed the model 1200 in late 1964, but most didn't hit the shelves until 1965. Sears eliminated the Ted Williams line in 1978 and stopped all firearm sales in 1980.
I have no dates of introduction of the model 200. So your looking at a 13 year window at most. I'm sorry that's all the info my books and sources contain. PS The Ted Williams line was Sears best. Yours should have a walnut stock but the finish wasn't quite as good as the Winchesters. You have remedied that problem.
If you ask me a $100 for a Winchester made pump is a damn good deal regardless of who's names on it.
I own that very shotgun, the model 21. I purchased a left hand safety for mine in about 1970 from a parts catalog for a High Standard that a friend had puchase. I can't tell you though if the model 20 is the same. The 21 is a variable choke slide action. I have never had a problem with it. NNumrich Arms (www.gunpartscorp.com) has a cross reference section- its on the left side of their home page.
You can look up a Sears or Western Auto or Montgomery Ward firearm model, and it will give you the maker, and corresponding model of that maker. NSears Model 21 evolved from the model 20. Parts lists for comparing various Sears modesl are available at www.histandard.info.
Answer Actually made by Winchester. NIf you go to Auctionarms.com you can have an appraisal, or get an idea of what it's worth. NThis shotgun is a model 1400 made by Winchester for Sears&Roebuck. Sears model 300 Ted Williams semi auto 12 guage, 2 3/4' shells, The stocks are heavily checkered Delux walnut with a silver pomel, both sides and bottom of forearm are checkered. Also has Ted Williams signature recoil pad. To buy it now on Auctionarms.com it was $235.00/ bidder was getting it for $189.00 nHope this helped someone, cause I was also looking for this info.
In the summer of 2007 I bought one on auction for $180. I have seenthe asking price as high as $350. By the way the one I bought was excellent though it did have acouple of minor marks on the wood and metal but since I was lookingfor something to go hunting with and did not to worry aboutscratching it, the gun was perfect for me. I discovered the reasonwhy somebody probably traded it off; it shoots 12' at 2:00 at 50yards. Hard to bring home the venison when you're off that much.Buyer beware! This gun was made for bird hunting.

That's why it only holds three, two and three quarter in. Shells and has no plug! If you notice itis really light weight.
Perfect for swinging around for quickflying birds.
